There is a bit of personal history with this word.
The case was rather lopsided in favor of the opponent and my client was not exactly sterling on the stand. After making a rather circuitous closing argument, I (and everyone else in the courtroom) expected a rapid decision from the jury. After several days of deliberation they remained deadlocked.
The judge nicknamed me “the great obfuscatrix”! That was quite a compliment from that particular judge.
