RDP #38–CLEW

What single word (with variant spelling) has these variant meanings?
1 : a ball of thread, yarn, or cord
2 : something that guides through an intricate procedure or maze of difficulties
3 a : a lower corner or only the after corner of a sail
3 b : a metal loop attached to the lower corner of a sail
3 c : (plural) a combination of lines by which a hammock is suspended

I suppose the title of this post is a tiny, little clue. You know the rules (most of you, I bet) just write what you will–a song, a poem, an essay, a story. Or send a photograph. Let your creativity run wild (sorta). Set your pingback and use the tags “RDP”, “Ragtag Daily Prompt” and “clew” or “clue”. Don’t forget to read the posts of everyone else. Then check out their blogs. You might find something or someone interesting.

  1. I know them as part of a sail. I didn’t even know there WERE any other meanings for it. Sorry to miss today’s clew, but we went out and bought a new mattress. It turns out, trying mattresses takes time. A whole day. Amazing!
